Community Education Courses
Community Education courses address subjects related to leisure, lifestyle and special interest. Courses range from single day seminars to 2-6 week classes, are non-credit and are taught by community professionals experienced in their chosen field.
Come join us as we explore the arts, history, languages, dance and many other topics! It’s a great way to meet new people and energize your mind. Best of all, there are no tests – only the pleasure of learning and exploring!
Travel with us! Explore the arts, history, culture and natural wonders of our own backyard on our Grays Harbor and Pacific County day trips or plan on traveling with us to the Ashland Shakespeare Festival in August.
Oysterville - Bringing the Past into the Present
On Saturday, April 25th, visit the original Pacific County seat and learn more about midnight raiders who kidnapped county records in 1893. Local author, Sydney Stevens, will be guiding the tour of Oysterville, the community located at the tip of the Long Beach Peninsula. Take this EDventure with our Community Education program and enjoy lunch at the original Oysterville church built in 1892, with other stops at Nahcotta, Ocean Park, and Seaview. Cost of the trip is $72.29, which includes lunch, snack, and transportation; leaving Aberdeen at 8:30 am, Raymond at 9:15 am, and Ilwaco at 10:30 am. Register Online

Lighthouse to Lighthouse Hike Saturday, May 16th, Join us for a hike from North Head Lighthouse to Cape Disappointment Lighthouse. Local ecologist, Kathleen Sayce, will be guiding our this surprisingly strenuous 4 mile hike, with more than 1000 ft of elevation gain. She will provide educational facts regarding coastal forests, trees, and other natural history of the headlands. Participants are encouraged to wear stout shoes or boots and bring walking sticks, clothing suitable for the weather of the day. A sack lunch, bottle of water, and snack will be provided. Pick up locations include: Aberdeen at 7 am, Raymond at 8 am, and Ilwaco at 9 am. Cost $77.89 Register Online
Discovery Trail hike
Saturday, June 13th, Our voyage sets foot at the Seaview Beach Approach south on the Discovery Trail learning about the different fauna and flora that surrounds us; at O’Donnell Rock we will leave the trail for the beach, to walk to Fishing Rocks, continuing the discussion on beaches and seasonal changes to the dunes. Kathleen Sayce, local ecologist, will be leading this 5 mile hike. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended as well as clothing suitable for the weather of the day. Hoh Rainforest Photography Workshop
Saturday, June 20th, we venture into the beautiful and mysterious Hoh River Rainforest for a full day of photography instruction. Learn tips & techniques, and get advice on landscape photography in general, while exploring this phenomenal area of the Olympic Rain Forest. Critiques and evaluation of the day’s shoot will be done on return to Aberdeen. Ken’s longtime friend and mentor, Gary Clay, a Hoquiam-born professional photographer who knows the Hoh intimately, will also be accompanying us on this trip as a guest instructor. We will be picking up students at 6 AM in Aberdeen on Main Campus. Cost $124.70 Register Online

Course Proposals: Come teach with us! If you are interested in teaching a community interest workshop or course, please complete the Course Proposal Form and submit it to the Continuing Education Department or call 360.533.9733.
Registration Information: Registration can be completed online with a credit card through the quarterly schedule link. We recommend the online registration option, however, registrations are also accepted at the Riverview Education Center, Columbia Education Center, or Whiteside Education Center and a printable registration form is available by clicking here.
Tuition Information: Fees vary in accordance to class length and other factors. Many courses are available to those ages 50 and older at a significantly reduced rate. Tuition fees are due and payable the time of registration.
Cancellation Information: Classes may be cancelled prior to the start date if enrollment is too low. Please help prevent cancellations by enrolling early. In the event of a cancellation, you will receive a full refund of your tuition.
