     Informational Interviewing is also a good way to start developing contacts and networks in your field of interest.  You may be referred to others who may know of internship opportunities and future employment once you complete your education.
Text Box:      Informational interviewing can be a great way to help you decide what career fits you best and what schools will give you the best training for your career. 
 
     One of the best, if not the best, ways to find out about a career and how to train for that career is to ask someone who is already doing it. The process of scheduling some time to talk to someone about their career, what they like and don’t like, and how they got into the field is called informational interviewing.
 
     Usually people are happy to sit down with someone or talk on the phone for 15 minutes to an hour about their job.  Not only can you gain detailed information about the job, you can gain important information about what it takes to get into the field.  People often have recommendations about the
