Text Box:                  The hit CBS television show CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) has been atop the ratings charts for a few years now, and this has sparked much interest in the career of forensic science.
                 Forensic scientists play a crucial role in the justice system by providing scientific information for crime scene investigators and the courts. Most practicing forensic scientists are employed 
Text Box: in crime laboratories associated with law enforcement or other government agencies.  
                 Forensic scientists need to have a strong background in the natural sciences.  For example, new hires who analyze drugs, DNA, trace, and toxicological evidence typically have a degree in chemistry, 
Text Box: biochemistry, biology, or forensic science from an accredited institution. For a list of schools that offer forensic science programs you can go to the American Academy of Forensic Sciences website: http://aafs.org.
Eastern Washington University’s Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry offers a Forensic Science Program, and the Washington State Patrol is building a new crime laboratory on EWU’s campus that should provide great training opportunities to EWU students.            Some other career options  include: Forensic Pathology, Forensic Psychology, Forensic Nursing, and Forensic Computer Science / Digital Evidence.
