Financial Aid
GHC doesn’t want a lack of money to stop anyone from getting an
education. So for those with tight budgets, we offer financial
aid, scholarships and loans.
Applying for Aid
Complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must be a
U.S. citizen or eligible
noncitizen to apply for aid.
Prior to completing this application
online, you should visit www.pin.ed.gov and
apply for an electronic signature PIN. This will allow you to fill
out the FAFSA with an electronic signature which will greatly speed
up the application process; without an electronic signature, the
process will involve a mail-in signature card which will take up
to 4 weeks to process.
It's a good idea to read the FAFSA
overview before you start the application process. Make sure
you have the documents
required to complete the application and note that the code
for GHC is 003779.
The FAFSA is required for almost all financial aid programs.
Dates to Know
Plan early and allow plenty of time to complete the required application
forms. It can take up to six weeks to process the FAFSA. Students
should begin the process as soon as possible after January 1.
The
priority date for funding is May 1.
Scholarship applications are typically due late February or early March.
Specific deadline dates will be available on the GHC
financial aid website beginning in November.
Forms
The GHC financial
aid website has all forms available.
Awarding Process
Your eligibility for a financial aid award can be determined:
- After GHC receives the results of your FAFSA data, and
- After you have been admitted to GHC, and
- After you have submitted any additional documents requested
by the college Financial
Aid Office.
|
If awarded, the specific package will be determined by your need,
as defined by the FAFSA data you submitted, and the financial aid
funds available at the college you plan to attend.
Most financial
aid programs have limited funds, so it is important to apply and
submit required documents as early as possible. Limited
funds are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
You will
be notified by mail when you have an award. Mark
Ramon will also assist you in understanding the financial aid processes
and policies.
Getting Your Money
- Verification must be received that you have begun to attend
class. For online classes, your instructor should be asked to
email cjasper@ghc.edu to
indicate that you have begun class.
- Once verification of attendance in all your classes has been
received, funds will be applied directly to your tuition and
fees.
- Any remaining funds can be sent directly to you. To request
that such a check be mailed to you, complete the Request
for Check form and fax or send it to the GHC
Business Office.
