Steps to Apply for Benefits

Step 1

Complete Application for Education Benefits Online

Please have the following information easily accessible before you apply online:

  • Social Security number
  • Bank account direct deposit information
  • Veterans military history
  • Education history

Notes:

  • You will need to create an account or sign in with a Login.gov | ID.me
  • The average time for an application to be processed by the VA, once it is submitted, is 30 days.
  • If choosing Chapter 33 - Post 9/11 GI Bill®, the Veteran will have to relinquish rights to Chapter 30 Montgomery GI Bill® (MGIB).
  • Our VA Regional Office located in Muskogee Oklahoma.

Step 2

Please submit all required documents to the School Certifying Official via the Financial Aid Electronic Drop Box.

  • DD-214 - Member 4 Copy
  • If your application is approved, a Certificate of Eligibility letter will be sent to you via mail directly from VA. Once you receive the letter, please submit a copy to the Veteran Education Benefits – School Certifying Official

Notes:

  • Each quarter that you chose to use your Veteran Education Benefits you will need to complete the Request for Certification of Veteran Education Benefits (GHC online form)
  • If you are receiving Chapter 30 or 33 benefits, you are required to report your attendance out to the VA at the end of each month. You can verify your enrollment via text message or by calling the Education Call Center (ECC) 1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551). 

Step 3

Request Official Joint Service Transcript [https://jst.doded.mil/official.html]

Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, National Guard & Navy Transcripts

To order your Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps or Navy transcripts you will need to go to https://jst.doded.mil/ (you may receive a certificate error on this website, this site is safe so you can continue). This website will walk you through the steps of ordering your official military transcripts.

Army and National Guard transcripts can only be ordered and delivered online. All other services, there are two types of delivery methods:

Online Delivery - You can order as many transcript as needed for on-line delivery. Transcripts ordered by 11:59 p.m. central time will be delivered via the web on the next business day after ordered.

U.S. Postal Service Delivery - Only 2 transcripts within 30 days can be ordered due to production and postage costs. Hard copies will be mailed on the next business day after the transcripts are ordered.

Air Force Transcripts

To order your Air Force transcripts you will need to go to Community College of the Air Force Transcripts. CCAF provides several options for ordering your official transcript as detailed on their website. You may also view your unofficial transcript online through this website at any time. All official transcripts are hard copy, as they do not have the ability to send transcripts electronically at this time.
