What is Annual Giving?

Each year at the Grays Harbor College Foundation we contact our donors and potential donors in order to raise annual operating funds to support the foundation's ongoing work and programs. In general annual giving programs provide the foundation directors with a steady supply of money that can be used for scholarships, student aid, special services, projects and supplies.

What is an Unrestricted Gift?

An unrestricted gift is a gift that is given to the Foundation without any restrictions on its use. Restricted gifts, on the other hand, are earmarked for specific purposes such as a named, endowed scholarship, or building construction. Although both restricted and unrestricted gifts are welcome, unrestricted gifts are of critical importance.

Why is unrestricted support important?

Gifts free of restriction allow us to place resources where they are most immediately needed or where opportunities are greatest. Common uses of unrestricted funds include student aid, faculty and staff support, and new college initiatives, research assistance and the purchase of books, collections, supplies and equipment.

What gift recognition programs for annual giving exist at GHC?

There are a number of gift programs that recognize a wide variety of giving levels.

Do company matching gifts count toward donor recognition?

Yes. At GHC matching gifts count toward recognition. For example, a donor who gives $500 and files a one-to-one company match claim within the same fiscal year is recognized at the Trustee's Circle level for that fiscal year.

Who is solicited for an annual gift?

Anyone who is an alumnus or alumnae of GHC and anyone who has made a gift to a Foundation fundraising program is solicited annually by the organization.

What if you do not wish to be solicited by the Foundation?

If someone does not wish to be solicited, the person should call the GHC Foundation Office at (360) 538-4243 and request that the Foundation code the person's record for No Solicitation.
