Admissions and
Records: The Admissions and
Records Office (HUB, 538-4096) is the place to go for transfer
credit evaluations and graduation evaluations, official
transcripts requests, and applications
for admission. Hours are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Advising: An
advisor is the faculty member to whom a student is assigned for help
in selecting courses at registration, in changing a schedule, or for
general transfer or program information. You may change your advisor
by completing a Student Information Change Form at the Office of Admissions
and Records. Advising is also available in the Counseling
and Advising Center (HUB, 538-4049).
Assessment: The Counseling
Office (HUB, 538-4049) provides the necessary English, math, and
reading placement tests for course prerequisites.
Athletics: Grays Harbor
College belongs to the Northwest Athletic
Association of Community Colleges which is comprised of 32 community
colleges in Washington and Oregon.
If you are interested in participating in a GHC sport, visit the Choker

Books: The GHC
Bookstore (HUB, 538-4106) offers students the opportunity to purchase
required textbooks for all GHC and WAOL classes, art and school supplies,
assorted gift items, snack items, and greeting cards. The Grays Harbor
College Bookstore is open year-round* Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00 pm. In addition, during fall, winter and spring quarters, we are also open Tuesday evenings, 4:00pm - 6:00pm (Please note that we are not open Tuesday evenings during summer quarter). Used book buy back is conducted by the bookstore
at the end of Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters, during finals days
only.

Bus
Ridership Program: Students are encouraged to ride the
bus to campus and avoid parking problems. GHC students can obtain a
transit pass good for riding the Grays
Harbor Transit or Pacific Transit buses to and from campus. The
transit routes reach most residents of the college district and provide
a convenient means of transportation. The cost of the transit pass
is covered under the comprehensive services fee. Replacement of a lost
pass is $20/qtr.
Note: Transit passes are not available during summer quarter.
Child Care: Child care is available
on campus at Grays Harbor College. For more information, please contact Wunderland
Child Care at 538-4190.
Clubs and Organizations: The
Club Coordinating Council (CCC), overseen by the Vice President of
the ASGHC Student Government, serves to coordinate the activities,
functions, membership, and structure of the college clubs and organizations.
The CCC consists of representatives from all active student organizations.
Membership in student clubs and organizations is open, with the exception
of the Honor Societies, to all enrolled GHC students. Students also
have the opportunity and are encouraged to charter and commence a club
reflecting their own interests. For more information, visit the Student

Computer
Labs: Computers are available for drop-in student
use in rooms 644, 409, and the Spellman
Library. Additional labs are available when classes are not
in session. Contact Mark Holm at 538-4158 for specific lab hours.

Raymond: 360-875-9466, and the Whiteside Education Center in

Counseling and
Career Information: The Counseling
and Advising Center (HUB, 538-4049) is open weekdays from 7:30
a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday evenings until 6:00 p.m. during Fall,
Winter and Spring quarters. Comprehensive counseling services are
provided in the areas of academic counseling, career/vocational
counseling, and personal counseling. Appointments are recommended,
however, morning drop-in hours are available.
Disabled Student
Services: Services are
available for handicapped and disabled students who provide documentation
of a disabling condition(s). Accommodations, accessibility information,
liaison with faculty, medical reserve parking, and community referral

Emergency Financial Assistance: The
Orkney Book Loan Fund is a loan meant to help students purchase required
textbooks at the GHC Bookstore and cannot exceed $200. This loan is
expected to be repaid by the end of the quarter and is not available
to Freshman.
The UMAR Student Emergency Grant Fund provides emergency financial
assistance in the form of a grant to the student or as a direct payment
to a service provider or retailer. These grants do not exceed $250.

Financial Aid: The Financial
Aid Office provides assistance and advice to students. Grants,
loans and part-time employment are available to meet the needs of individual
students. The major responsibility for financing an education is with
the students and/or the student's parents. Financial aid is intended
only to assist students with their educational costs. Grants, loans
and part-time employment are available to meet the needs of individual
students. The Financial Aid Office is open 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday. Evening hours are provided during the first four evenings
of the quarter, excluding Fridays, and every Tuesday during the remainder
of the quarter from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., excluding summer quarter.

HINT: Plan ahead and start early. Applying for aid can take several
months to complete.
Fitness Center: The Athletic
Department, Physical Education Department, and the ASB government have
collaborated to bring all GHC students, faculty and staff opportunities
to utilize our great facilities during designated hours. We are proud
to offer participants a variety of cardio training equipment and an
aerobic/strength circuit equipped with state-of-the-art Life Fitness
equipment. Contact PE instructor Pam Aho at 538-4208 for information
and encouragement. Train here before or after your classes and change
your life!
Food Service: Charlie's Deli (GHC's
Food Service operation) is open 7 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. with grill service
until 1:00 p.m. while school is in session. Pop and snacks are also
available from vending machines located in the HUB.
Graduation: One quarter
before you plan to graduate you should complete a graduation application
and turn it in to the Admissions and Records Office. Remember, if you do not apply we
have no way of knowing that you are planning to graduate.
ID Cards: If you are taking day
classes and have paid regular college tuition, you will be issued an
ASGHC card. This grants the owner admission to selected student body
activities, use of library and computer labs. You should carry your
card at all times and be prepared to show it for admittance to these
activities. A replacement card is $5. ID cards are issued in the Bookstore.
Jobs/Student Employment: The Job Placement
Office offers a variety of services to assist students with their employment needs. Get help writing your resume or developing your interviewing skills. Learn about career opportunities as well as part-time job leads. If you qualify for work study, view work study openings and get your work study referral at this office. The Job Placement Office is located in Room 203-C, and the office is open 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday thru Thursday. Appointments can be arranged for those unable to get to the office during regurlary scheduled hours. Call 538-4098 to schedule an after hours appointment.
Learning Center Services: The GHC
Learning Center is located on the first floor of the 1500 (library)
building. Services available include the Homework Lab, Individual
Tutoring, Writing Desk, Computer Assisted
Instruction, Learning
Links, workshops, and a quarterly Student Success Conference. Contact
the Learning Center Coordinator at 360-538-4060 or the Learning Center
at 360-538-4129. All Learning Center services are free for
all GHC students.
Library
Services : Spellman
Library houses a collection of instructional resources (books, journals,
and electronic media resources) and provides InterLibrary Loan of materials
to support the local collection (allow two weeks). Other services include:
Internet access; multimedia equipment, such as digital cameras to support
faculty assignments; regularly scheduled art shows featuring local
and national artists; fax machine and copier (color copies available);
The Eichelsdorfer collection of American Indian artifacts display;
hole-punch, staplers, etc. and Reference Librarians. (538-4051)
Lockers: A
limited number of lockers are available in the 400 building for you
to store your books and personal belongings. Lockers are obtained on
a first come, first serve basis. The student is responsible for his/her
own lock. At the end of each quarter, students must empty the locker
or leave signs which indicate they will return the following quarter.
Any locks not removed by the student, will be cut off and the lockers
emptied by campus maintenance staff.
Lost and Found: All items lost
on campus are turned in and held at the Information window of Admissions
and Records (HUB, 538-4100). Please check with this office for all
lost and found concerns. Lost items can also be found on the Student
Message Board.
Parking: Parking can be limited at different times of the day so
allow yourself enough time before your first class to find a spot.
Medical reserve parking applications are available through the Disability Support Services (HUB 538-4068). Parking for persons
with valid State of Washington disabled permits is available in a number
of locations throughout campus.
Appeal forms are
available in the Office for Student Services (Room 110).
Running
Start: Running Start is
a program created by the legislature which provides juniors and seniors
in high school the opportunity to enroll in college courses. It provides
the academically qualified students an opportunity to take college
courses as part of their high school program. The GHC contact for this
program can be reached at 538-4049 (HUB, Counseling Center).
Safety: Grays Harbor College employs one full-time person responsible for safety and security at the Aberdeen campus and the four off campus sites. The Director of Safety and Security’s office is located in the 2000 Building, room 2323 and can be contacted at (360) 538-4154 or at tsimone@ghc.edu.

Student Government
: The Associated Students of Grays Harbor College (ASGHC)
has an office that is open every day. It is located in Hiller Union
Building (Room 172, 538-4087) next to the television room. Please
feel free to stop by to visit members of the student council or
to ask questions.
Transcript Requests: Students requesting release of Grays Harbor College transcripts must
do so in writing. The request must include name with middle initial,
social security number, address, all former names, period of attendance,
and signature. The transcript will not be sent without the student's
signature. Grays Harbor College does not charge for transcripts.
A Transcript Request Form is
available from the Admissions and Records Office.

"TRiO" - Student Success & Study
Skills: The TRiO Office (Room 1514,
538-4076) provides all sorts of different assistance to students
who are new or unfamiliar with the college system. The program's
activities are designed to increase your academic success at the
college and assist you in your transfer to four- year schools. Stop
by our office and talk with us!
Tutoring: All
students are eligible to receive the free tutoring on campus. Tutoring
hours are flexible to accommodate most schedules. This program is staffed
by students who have successfully completed the course for which they
tutor, have instructor approval and have been trained in aspects of
tutoring. For more information contact Laura Ratcliff (Room 1517, 538-4060).
Veteran's Benefits: The Veteran's Office will assist
students with all Veterans Educational Benefits. Information about
and applications for VA programs is offered in the VA office (HUB,
Financial Aid, 538-4082). This office is staffed a limited number of
hours per week. Please check on specific hours of service.
WorkFirst Services:
Tuition assistance for low-income working families. Located in the
Counseling Center, Room 141. To contact us call, (360) 538-4058 or

Writing Assistance: Help
is available for research papers and writing assignments for any class. The
Writing Desk is located in the Learning Center on the first floor
of the Spellman Library in room 1519. Contact the Writing Desk Staff
