Requesting An Item
The library allows you to place holds on items that you want through the library catalog. Holds can be made only from an item record, and you need to log in with your Student ID number before you can place a hold.
- Search for an item that you want to place a hold on. View the Record for the item.
- Click the Make a Request button from the options at the right of the screen. Enter your Institution ID (Student ID Number) and Last Name in the appropriate fields. click the Log in button.
- Click Hold
- If you want to place a hold on any copy of the item, click the Any Copy radio button. If you want to place a hold on a specific copy, click the This Copy radio button and select the copy of the item from the drop-down menu. A specific copy might be one volume of a set, or a particular issue of a magazine.
- Enter any comments that you feel may help the staff in processing your request (such as cell phone number, email address, etc.).
- Select the location where you want to pick up the item from the Pick Up At menu.
- Enter the number of days after which you will NOT need the hold. This just makes sure that if we have trouble locating the item, we won't try and send it to you when it's no longer useful.
- Enter your Student ID Number again in the Institution Id box. (Just to make sure we have it right!)
- Click the Submit button. You should receive a message back that says: Your Patron Initiated Request was successful.
- Once you have placed a hold on an item, you can check its status by accessing your Account.
