Information Literacy is the ability to access, evaluate, and apply information from a variety of sources and in a variety of contexts. The John Spellman Library and Media Center is dedicated to ensuring this set of skills and abilities is attained by Grays Harbor College's students.
1. IRIS 4-2 ("Information and Research Instruction Suite for two year colleges") is a self-paced tutorial, initially developed with a grant from the Distance Learning Council of Washington, 2007-2008, by Librarian Kitty Mackey of Clark College. Some content, images and activities were inspired by, and/or copied/adapted from TILT: The Texas Information Literacy Tutorial. (the latest version: http://tilt.lib.utsystem.edu/yourtilt/ ). We have edited it to fit GHC's unique resources and class environments.
2. Information Literacy defined and explained. A handy graphic, poster, and ideas for incorporating Information Competency into curricula.
