This site is designed to assist students in the area of K-12 education to locate information to prepare them for careers in the field of education.  Resources includes lesson plans, classroom activities, news items, forums to share ideas and much more.  Journals are electronic journals available on the Web.  Organizations lists professional associations and offices useful for teachers and educators.

Created by a teacher, this site offers online lesson plans and lesson plan resources; thematic units; classroom activities; teacher tips; web projects; discussion; educational ideas and an email newsletter.

Yahooligans! The Web Guide for Kids    http://www.yahooligans.com/
This kids search directory is from the people at Yahoo!  Categories include Sports & Recreation, Science & Nature, Around the World, and School Bell.  There are kid links to news, sports, games and jokes.

Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids    http://bensguide.gpo.gov/
From the Government Printing Office, Ben's Guide  provides information on how our government works.  The site is divided by grade levels and has a special section for parents and teachers.  Each kids section includes a glossary and games & activities, while the parent/teacher section has curriculum links.

"Smart Tools for Busy Teachers"  This site contains lesson plan ideas, education news, and a forum to share thoughts and ideas with other teachers.

Education World    http://www.education-world.com/
Although there are many advertisements on this site, it is an excellent resource.  It includes curriculum materials, lesson plans, education organizations and employment.  You can also search the web for education-specific sites.

ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center)   http://www.eric.ed.gov/
The ERIC database is a federally-funded national information system that provides free access to citations to the education literature (journal articles, lesson plans, conference reports, books, research, etc.)   A growing number of the citations also link to full text of the items, although often you must still rely on your local library.

The Lesson Plans Page    http://www.lessonplanspage.com/
"The Lesson Plans Page is a collection of over 3,000 lesson plans, primarily at the elementary level" and is divided into subject categories.  You  can follow links to specific subjects, check out the most recent additions or search.

National Center for Education Statistics    http://nces.ed.gov/
Statistical information on education in the United States from the U.S. Department of Education.  Almost any aspect of education can be found here.  Very comprehensive.

World Data on Education    http://www.ibe.unesco.org/countries/WDE/WorldDataE.htm
First produced in 1996 by UNESCO's International Bureau of Education, the latest (6th) edition covers 2006/2007. It contains data from 110 countries with an "emphasis on curricula and curriculum development processes.

This is the official site of the AASA.  There is information on jobs, conferences, publications, awards and scholarships and much more.  Special links and services are available for members.

National Education Association    http://www.nea.org/
Official site of the NEA.  Their site includes association information, educational news and publications, jobs, current issues in education, and much more.  This is an extensive site with excellent resources and links for educators.

Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction    http://www.k12.wa.us/
Up-to-date information and news from the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.  Excellent for local issues and resources, such as jobs and SPI publications.

Literacy NOW (Network of Washington)    http://www.literacynow.info/
"Literacy NOW strengthens the state's adult literacy programs by providing training, resources, and information and referral." Site provides links to training, guidelines for programs, location of programs, etc.

This is a extensive list maintained by the U.S. Department of Education.

Electronic Journals in the Field of Education    http://aera-cr.asu.edu/ejournals
The list is compiled by the American Educational Research Association and attempts to include "only links to electronic journals that are scholarly, peer-reviewed, full text and accessible without cost."  It is not limited to only the U.S., so there is an indicator by each journal which country it comes from.
