Welcome to our watershed...
Grays Harbor College (GHC) is located in Aberdeen Washington, USA. The campus is situated in the Alder Creek Watershed and is the site of the unique Donald F. Samuelson Model Watershed. An undertaking of the college students, staff, faculty and administrators, this project is a tremendous asset to the college and local community.
A small microcosm of a much larger watershed, the Chehalis River Basin, the Model Watershed Project is a story of nature's recovery over time. GHC and local school students can monitor and assess the water quality, participate in wetland restoration projects, and learn more about the importance of watersheds through their on-going studies.
We invite you to visit our website or come in person to enjoy the trails. Watch the seasonal changes of the watershed. Spring brings salamanders and frogs. Summer is witness to turtles sunning themselves on logs. Autumn welcomes back the salmon, while winter hosts migrating birds and returning river otters. Visitors can observe lively riparian, alder and old growth habitats while strolling on the meandering trails. There is no appointment necessary. For directions to the Donald F. Samuelson Model Watershed, or to schedule a presentation about this project at your school, club, or organization call (360) 538-4179.
