Important Advising Terms

Advisors help you take an active role in your education!Advising: Advising is a formal activity where an advisor assists a student in selecting classes each term and for developing a plan to meet your career and educational goals. Advisors help you take an active role in your education!

Adding Courses: The process of adding courses to your schedule. Adding requires an instructor signature after classes begin and must be done by the 10th day of classes.

Prerequisites:  The minimal skill level, as determined by test scores or successful completion of a course, required to enroll in a class or program.

Recommended Preparation:  The skill level recommended for this coursework that should be completed before taking the course but it is not required.

Withdrawal (also referred to as Dropping a class): The process of dropping a class from your schedule. The last day to drop (withdraw from) one but not all of your classes is "W" day during the 7th week of the quarter.
