Helping Hurting Students
Description:

Grays Harbor College is pleased to serve as host for a timely and informative presentation entitled “Helping Hurting Students” on Thursday, November 4th from 3:15 – 6:15pm in room 2250.   I think we all have seen signs that many in the GHC community are dealing with big challenges and that stress can lead to behavior that affects us all.   Recent incidents resulting in many feeling the need to wear “Stop the Hate” buttons is but one example.

This 3-hour training, sponsored by the GH Mentoring Roundtable and WA State Mentors, will equip participants to understand depression and how it affects young people, to recognize the warning signs of depression and suicide, to know how to develop healthy environments for young people, and to help students who are dealing with depression or suicide.

This training is suitable for professionals working with youth/young adults, Mentors and Mentees, school teachers/staff, parents/families, anyone who cares for and about a young person!

The sponsors anticipate high attendance so they are asking those interested in coming to register.  Please see the event flyer for registration details.
