A student led discussion about acceptance of diversity at Grays Harbor College.

Two separate sessions:

11:00 – 12:00 &

12:00 – 1:00

In the Student Activities Wing in the HUB

The discussion will use a broad definition of diversity that refers to social inclusiveness. This definition extends beyond ethnic differences and also includes, but is not limited to, differences of socioeconomic status, personal beliefs and values, gender, physical appearance and abilities, religion, political views, age, sexual orientation, and language.

Safe Space Training

Wednesday November 9^th

2:00 – 4:30PM

Room 1512

A training for students, staff, and faculty on how to create a welcoming environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Questioning students.

After completing the training that focuses on basic LGBTQ concepts and theories, strategies on how to create an inclusive environment for LGBTQ individuals, and developing skills to confront homophobia, heterosexism, biphobia and transphobia, each participant will be offered a Safe Space emblem that represents a safe environment that is supportive and affirming of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning persons. 

Please RSVP to Brian Shook, bshook@ghc.edu, if you would like to attend so that we can prepare a Safe Space manual for you.

The TRiO office will offer open FAFSA workshops to help students navigate the FAFSA process. 
The location for the workshops will be in Room 1520, and the time for these workshops will be at 2:00 pm.  Please contact Jeannette Green to sign up for the workshops (538-4076).

Past cuts to the State budget and new ones that are proposed are disastrous for our community. Please join a group of concerned citizens – your Harbor neighbors – as we share more about the huge impact that the combined cuts mean in our everyday lives.

Together we can speak up about what resources & services this community stands to lose and how we can join together for viable solutions.

The ASGHC invites you to take a stand and make your voice heard. On November 16th from 10 AM to 2 PM skip your classes and come join us in the HUB. Presenatations and discussions throughout the day will help educate you and your peers on the state budget cuts, what they mean to you, and what you can do to help fight it!

No question is off limits. No holds barred. Faculty, administrators, and community experts will be on hand all day to answer your questions.

And don't forget Gary's Challenge at noon! Learn why it is important to hold your political representatives accountable for what they claim!
