Date: Mon, Apr 23, 2012 Time: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Description: Day of Silece to be held in the Choker Dining Room. Will represent a safe space for all participants and allies where they can meet and feel safe. Stickers, pencils and letters will be handed out. Students and faculty who participate will stay as quiet as possible to symbolize the voices that are no longer heard because of bullying and hate. The silence has a big impact. All participants will meet, get stickers to represent their participation, pencils to writhe with and a card that says why there are doing this and a letter.

Money Smart Week

This is achieved through the collaboration and coordinated effort of hundreds of organizations across the country including businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, not-for-profits, government agencies and the media. These groups come together once a year to stress the importance of financial literacy, inform consumers about where they can get help and provide free educational seminars and activities throughout the week.

All events are free and open to the public. Join us and be money smart!

Drop, Cover & Hold On

Statewide �Drop, Cover & Hold On,� Earthquake Drill

On April 25th from 9:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. businesses, schools, and organizations across Washington are encouraged to participate in a Drop, Cover and Hold drill. During an earthquake, the safest action to take is to drop, cover and hold.

Encourage your co-workers, instructor, supervisor, students and family to participate in this drill on April 25th at 9:45 a.m.

Practice Drop, Cover, and Hold
� Practice taking cover as if an earthquake were taking place. This will make people aware of the safest places in their immediate environment.

Practice Exiting
� Walk through the possible escape routes
� Periodically inspect those routes to make certain they are not cluttered or if they could become blocked by falling debris.

Practice Shutoff
� Practice turning off electricity at home - www.emd.wa.gov/preparedness/videos/video_turning_off_electricity.shtml
� Practice turning off water at your home - www.emd.wa.gov/preparedness/videos/video_turning_off_residential_water.shtml
� Know how to turn off gas, but do not practice this step. Once gas is turned off for any reason, only trained utility personnel should turn it back on.

Know First Aid
� Keep current in first aid and CPR.

Review Earthquake Plans
� Check and refresh the supply of emergency food and water in your survival kit.
� Check medication and first aid materials for all members of the household.
� Replenish expired supplies of food, water, medicine and batteries at least every 6 months.
� Review the responsibility of each family member after an earthquake.
� Call your family's designated contact person outside the area to remind them of their role.
� Review the college's Emergency Action Plan www.ghc.edu/security/index.html
� Review plans to pick up children and check with schools and daycare centers to ensure the family plan is still appropriate.
� Contact Grays Harbor/Pacific County Emergency Management for information on the county's emergency plan.

"We have a degree program for GHC students in applied or technical programs that uses 100% of their AAS, AAS-T, or AT degree (up to 105
credits) towards our Bachelor of Applied Science program. And it�s 100% online, can be completed in as little as eight quarters, and comes from an accredited state-supported school!

Our Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology and Administrative Management accepts the skills classes in your programs and complements that education with classes in the soft skills such as project management, customer relationship management, and leadership/supervision. Students in any applied/technical program (Energy Technology, Criminal Justice, Forestry Technician, Accounting, Business Management, etc.) will benefit from our program in the form of job interviews and promotions to positions of responsibility.
