Running Start Office Assistant

Job Description

The Running Start office work study will be assisting the Running Start Coordinator with greeting students and answering basic questions regarding the Running Start Program, making appointments, maintaining files, creating packets, helping to prepare for and participate in on-campus information sessions (if available). The work study will look up information on the SMS/CTC Link system.  The work study will provide assistance to other team members in the Student Support Center as needed.

Typical Duties

  • Make RS registration, academic progress, academic planning appointments.
  • Answer questions about the Running Start Program via phone and email.
  • Review and compare verification forms with student schedule for accuracy.
  • Send copies of registration/verification and schedule to high school counselors.
  • Review add/drop forms and send copies with schedule to high school counselors.
  • Create, maintain and rotate files per audit needs.
  • Scan files into Quillix program.
  • Assist in reviewing Registration and Verification forms.
  • Review and accept waiver forms and inform the coordinator to recode the student.
  • Assist with group mailings for registration, events, academic progress and graduation.
  • Organize and restock RS forms.
  • Organize and make copies for RS Packets and information sessions.
  • Provide physical assistance to RS Coordinator for special events as available (school and parent information sessions, graduation celebration, etc.).
  • Answer phones and provide back-up assistance to the Student Support Center front desk.
  • Help students and guests navigate campus.  


  • Outlook, Word and Excel class and/or experience
  • Organizing skills
  • English 101
  • Customer service skills/experience with genuine desire to help other students
  • Solid work ethic
  • Experience with SMS/CTC link preferred

This position requires a person who can maintain confidentiality and anticipate the needs of students and staff in the Student Support Center.


  • 14-16 hours per week (hours depending on student’s class schedule)
  • Flexible work hours between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, on campus
