Memorial Day: Remember and Honor.

Dear GHC Family,

To observe Memorial Day this year the Grays Harbor College Veterans are honoring Gold Star Families. Gold Star Families are those families who have lost a family member due to their service in a war zone. We have invited the Gold Star Mothers and Gold Star Wives of Washington State to attend our observance which will include reading of names of fallen soldiers from Grays Harbor County as well as speakers telling their stories about their losses.

Reading of the names ceremony, for service men and women from Grays Harbor that have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Everyone is invited to attend this ceremony which will begin in the Fireside room at 11:00 and will move outside to the Flag for the reading of the names.

At this time I encourage all to reach out to veterans and families of veterans who have sacrificed so much. It is my opinion that we all owe a great debt to all who served, and especially those who “gave all” in serving our great country. I also invite anyone who has a story to tell to please feel free to tell their story at our observance. It is important for these stories to be told so we can all know the sacrifices that have been made.

In closing please take a little of your time this holiday weekend to thank a veteran, and if you know someone who is a gold star family member please let them know how much you appreciate their sacrifice as well. Lastly, may we all have a safe and peaceful Memorial Day Weekend and remember those who can’t be home this weekend because they are serving elsewhere, both abroad and across the country.

Sincerely,

Jim Sorensen
