Symphony, Civic Choir, and Opera invite new members from the community

Three community musical groups begin rehearsals this Fall and invite new participants to join. The Grays Harbor Symphony Orchestra, the Grays Harbor Civic Choir and the new Opera Workshop all rehearse once a week at the Music Pavilion on the Grays Harbor College campus.

On Monday evenings, the Symphony Orchestra rehearses, starting at 6:30 p.m., with Conductor William Dyer. One college credit to available for qualifying participants and auditions are not required. The Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Bishop Center in November and June. Dyer notes that the group is always looking for violin players to join, plus other musicians. The Civic Choir, directed by Kari Hasbrouck, rehearses every Tuesday evening, also at 6:30 p.m. Members can be approved for one college credit and the group will perform in December and June, also at the Bishop Center. Contact Ms. Hasbrouck at kari.hasbrouck@ghc.edu for details.

New this Fall is the Opera Workshop, organized by Ian and Joy Dorsch, meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. All experienced vocalists high school age and older are welcome to audition for the Opera Workshop. The group’s first performance, possibly in January, will featured selections from American and British operas.
