Basic Food Education & Training Program

The Basic Food, Employment and Training program (BFET) provides access and services to Basic Food recipients in Washington State. Services include job search and job search training, education and skills training, and support services to Basic Food recipients not participating in the state’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program.

Am I Eligible?

  • Currently receiving or eligible to receive DSHS Basic Food (food stamps) Assistance*
  • Not receiving DSHS TANF cash assistance (may be eligible for WorkFirst benefits instead).
  • Enrolled in a Transfer Program  or Professional/Technical program or in an ELAABE or High School completion program.
  • Returning students must have met Satisfactory Academic Progress during the prior quarter by having earned a 2.0 GPA or higher and completed at least 50% of attempted credits.
