Certified Nursing Assistant (NAC)

Nursing Assistant – Certified (NA-C) introduces basic nursing care, resident rights, safety, and emergency procedures. Principles of therapeutic relationships and client care are presented as well as the legal and ethical issues related to nursing assistant practice. The NA-C program includes classroom lectures, lab, and hands-on work in a nursing home under the guidance of an instructor.

Successful completion of this Nursing Assistant Training Course qualifies a student to take the Washington State licensure exam for NA-C.

Dates Offered:

Winter: January - March, 2025
Registration: Opens Early October
Time: Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with one 8-hour day of lab or clinical hours per week.

Summer: Begins July 1, 2024
Registration: First Week of May
Time: Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with two 10-hour days of lab or clinical hours each week.

Prerequisites

Before a student can register for the NA-C program, the following pre-requisites must be completed:

• Apply to Grays Harbor College.
• Apply for Workforce Funding (Indicate "NA-C" on application - additional details below)
• Print and complete the following forms:
  • Readiness Questionnaire
  • Washington State Criminal Background Check
  • WATCH Disclosure Questionnaire
  • Authorization for the Release of Information
• Copies of official documentation showing proof of required vaccines that meet program timelines.
• Read the following:
  • Essential Abilities
  • NA-C Dress Code Policy

All hardcopy forms must be submitted by the Friday prior to classes starting.  Official documentation of vaccinations is due by the first day of class to:

Enrolling

Once all required forms have been received and successfully processed.  GHC will email an enrollment code to register for the NA-C course. Please note the registration timelines above.

Tuition and Course Fees

The NA-C program tuition and course fees are as follows:

• Tuition: $1,236
• Course fee: $37
• Background Check Fee: $12
• Malpractice Insurance: $21.35
• Other Fees: $197 (includes technology fee, comprehensive service fee, student union fee, student operations fee)
• Textbook: $78
• Scrubs: approximately $50/set
• Immunizations: about $60-$450 (depending on the vaccines and tests needed)
• Supplies: $110.00 (optional)

Total: $1,801.35 - $2,191.35
