The All-Washington Academic Team honors individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to success and achievement in academics and in their communities. GHC students Charles Gumecindo, Lillie Perdue, and Emily Fry were recognized at the All-Washington Academic Team Ceremony on April 25.

Charles Gumecindo

Charles Gumecindo started his college career as a Running Start student, balancing his schoolwork with duties as an after-school program assistant and Lake Quinault High School's ASB President. He graduated high school as valedictorian and currently serves as Grays Harbor Youth Works' treasurer-in-training.

After graduating from GHC, Charles plans to pursue a bachelor's in accounting at Central Washington University. “During a transfer fair, I found that Central assists with finding accounting internships even to those working online, which helps a lot and is something I plan on doing,” Charles shared on his Academic Team application.

Lillie Perdue

Lillie Perdue graduated from GHC in fall, 2023. After earning her bachelor’s in social services from Central Washington University, Lillie plans to return home to serve her community as a social worker. A leader with a passion for helping others, Lillie was a member of GHC’s Hope Squad. She also worked as a 911 operator while in school.

On her application for the Academic Team, Lillie shared, “I currently am a 911 dispatcher where I get the privilege to help people on the worst day of their life. I hope that after school, I can become a social worker for my home county, so I can help the vulnerable children and become their advocate for a better, successful life.”

Emily Fry

Emily Fry began working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2019 and almost immediately realized that she wanted to return to school to pursue an associate degree in Nursing.

After graduating from GHC, Emily plans to begin working and gaining experience in her field. She hopes to work in a hospital setting first and gain experience in Labor and Delivery. “If I really like L&D, I may go back to school to become a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse-Midwifery,” she shared.

Before moving to Grays Harbor, Emily volunteered for her local church and participated in mission trips. She is a tutor and the assistant coach of the Pacific Beach Elementary softball team. At the All-Washington Academic Team reception, Emily was recognized in the Team's Top 16.
