Grays Harbor College complies with all provisions of Title 38 United States Code § 3679(e), as amended by the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018.
Effective for all academic terms beginning on or after August 1, 2019, any covered individual (students using Chapter 33 Post‑9/11 GI Bill® or Chapter 31 Veteran Readiness & Employment benefits) will be permitted to enroll, attend, and participate in courses while the College awaits tuition and fee payment from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Protections for Covered Individuals:
- GHC will not prevent the student’s enrollment.
- GHC will not assess late fees or penalties due to delayed VA payment.
- GHC will not deny access to classes, libraries, or institutional services.
- GHC will not require the student to secure alternative or additional funding.
These protections remain in effect until the earlier of: (1) the date payment from the VA is received, or (2) 90 days after GHC submits the student’s tuition and fee certification to the VA.
Student Requirements:
- Submit a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or equivalent document on or before the first day of the term.
- Submit a request for certification to the School Certifying Official.
- Provide additional documentation required for proper certification.
