On the Horizon: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
Posted on: Oct, 20, 2023
In addition to offering bachelor of applied science degrees in Teacher Education, Forest Resource Management, and Organizational Management, Grays Harbor College is in the process of expanding opportunities for students to earn a four-year degree locally. The State Board for Community & Technical Colleges recently approved GHC’s proposal for a new Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, which was created in partnership with South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC). The proposed program was designed to serve both students and employers from within the Pacific Mountain Workforce Development Region of Washington. Currently, the only option for students in the two college’s service districts to earn a bachelor’s degree in computer science is to transfer to either The Evergreen State College or Saint Martin’s University. While these institutions are a quick commute from Olympia, they are over 50 miles from Aberdeen. The proposed degree and partnership with SPSCC will greatly increase educational and career opportunities for students in the coastal communities that GHC serves.
