Summary Job Description
Assistant in the Microbiology, Anatomy, Biology and Chemistry Labs.
Typical Duties
- Create media and reagents for the Microbiology lab following specific instructions
- Replenish lab tables with needed equipment
- Bring in and put away supplies
- Preparation of nonhazardous solutions
- Wash/clean lab ware
- Help supervisor/instructor as needed
- Set up and breakdown of Chemistry labs following specific instructions
- Plant and animal maintenance
- Handle preserved specimens
Qualifications
- Lab experience in Microbiology, Biology and/or Chemistry preferred OR enrollment in one of these classes
- Knowledge or the ability to learn how to run an autoclave and weigh media.
- Able to learn to make media and read recipe instructions
- Able to accurately follow instructions and ask questions if need be
- Able to work alone with minimal direct supervision
- Able to understand and work within a schedule to match the needs of the lab teaching segments
- Understands and follows all safety protocols.
- Math 97 or above
- English 101
