Summary Job Description

This position serves as the first point of contact and patron services at the circulation desk in the library. Primarily, library aides will be tasked with providing assistance to students, community patrons, and staff/faculty. As needed, library aides will assist with clerical duties such as data entry and organization and with special projects related to the library and art gallery.

Typical Duties

  • Check-in/check-out/shelve library materials (Circulation)
  • Customer Service at the Circulation Desk
  • Clerical responsibilities such as data entry
  • Answering Phones/Taking Messages/Relaying Calls
  • Stocking and tidying the library spaces/supplies tables
  • Book inventory
  • Book repair
  • Processing newly acquired materials
  • Assistance in gallery projects: installation, tear down, receptions, etc.

Employee Qualifications

  • Proficiency in computer programs such as the Microsoft Office suite (especially Word and Excel)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in dealing with confidential information
  • Ability to work independently and follow direction
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to lift moderate weight while bending and stretching; ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time

Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrolled in 6 credits or more
  • Must be meeting Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (FA SAP)
  • Must have their eligibility determined for federal/state financial aid and be awarded in ctcLink
  • Have unmet need in their financial aid cost of attendance – $2500 maximum per quarter (generally for students attending full time)
