TRIO EOC Outreach / Recruitment Assistant

Summary Job Description

This position will provide information about postsecondary education opportunities (college, high school completion, apprenticeships) and TRIO Educational Opportunity Center services to community members, prospective students, and current students to support department objectives.

Typical Duties

  • Office reception, includes greeting & assisting students, faculty, staff, and the general public
  • Answer the telephone and take messages
  • Provide information about postsecondary education opportunities and TRIO services
  • Assist potential participants with completing EOC application
  • Make copies, make files, fax, scan, file documents
  • Use of Word, Outlook, and other college programs to create/update documents and files
  • Provide support at outreach events
  • Work at Student Services desk

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills including Word and Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills  Able to listen
  • Able to keep EOC participant’s personal and educational information confidential
  • Must exercise maturity in dealing with peers  Able to work independently and follow directions
  • Willing to learn
  • Reliable
  • Punctual
  • Preferred to have completed a public speaking course
  • Preferred bilingual abilities

Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrolled in 6 credits or more
  • Must be meeting Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (FA SAP)
  • Must have their eligibility determined for federal/state financial aid and be awarded in ctcLink
  • Have unmet need in their financial aid cost of attendance – $2500 maximum per quarter (generally for students attending full time)
