Summary Job Description

TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded grant program, designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of a college degree. The mission of TRIO grants is to improve the graduation and transfer rates for students who are first-generation, low-income, or have a documented disability. This position is responsible for providing office assistance and event support, as well as maintaining a social media presence for TRIO Student Support Services at Grays Harbor College.

Typical Duties

  • Create marketing materials using Canva or Microsoft Office; post flyers around campus as needed
  • Create social media content for TRIO Facebook and lnstagram pages
  • Assist with department events, such as orientation, workshops, and End of Year Celebration
  • Answer phones, make student appointments, create new student files, and file documents
  • accordingly
  • Keep snack cabinet stocked; assist with snack order and pick-up
  • Follow established guidelines, and respond to inquiries regarding TRIO services and procedures
  • Answer basic questions about the TRIO program and eligibility requirements
  • Operate a variety of office equipment such as computers and associated software, printers, multi-line phone system, and copy machine
  • Communicate with others via electronic means (GHC email, Microsoft Teams, and Canvas)
  • Attend professional development events, as needed
  • Monitor common-use room for TRIO students and ensure TRIO students sign in
  • Attend and contribute to weekly check-in meetings
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace and shared student space
  • Perform related duties as required
  • Maintain confidentiality/FERPA

Employee Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA or above
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs and social media platforms
  • Soft skills: welcoming and approachable, strong communication, interpersonal skills, organization, adaptability, reliability, creativity, discretion and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous office work, marketings, and/or photography experience
  • Knowledge of current social media trends
  • Current TRIO student or share similar background to the students being served

Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrolled in 6 credits or more
  • Must be meeting Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (FA SAP)
  • Must have their eligibility determined for federal/state financial aid and be awarded in ctcLink
  • Have unmet need in their financial aid cost of attendance – $2500 maximum per quarter (generally for students attending full time)
