Grays Harbor College is owned and supported by the citizens of the State of Washington; therefore, the College is for their benefit and use. However, the people maintain the College for particular purposes and this regulation is intended to enhance the public’s use for those purposes.
The regulations below are equally applicable to all citizens, including all employees and students at Grays Harbor College.
- Responsible adult and teen-age citizens are encouraged to visit the campus so long as such visits are compatible with the mission of the College in serving them and are not, in any way, detrimental to that mission in serving others.
- It is expected that only registered students will attend any classes at Grays Harbor College. Exceptions to this regulation may be made by the instructor for visitors who have been invited to make a presentation or otherwise support the activity of the course. There may be rare occasions when it is appropriate for visitors to attend classes, but such attendance will occur only when the instructor has given specific, advance approval.
- As a rule, employees and students shall not bring children with them to their work sites or to classes. No employee, student or visitor to the College shall leave a child unsupervised or unattended. It is inappropriate for the adult to ask members of the College community to assume these supervisory responsibilities unless the child is being left in a College program sanctioned for children. Employees or students may bring children to their work sites and/or classes on exceptional and infrequent circumstances and only with the authorization of the appropriate supervisor or faculty member(s).
- Animals are not permitted in College buildings or on the grounds except guide or service animals or laboratory animals (see Administrative Procedure #415.02 for further details). Safety and Security may grant exceptions to this rule.
