Spring Quarter Music Events at the Bishop Center

Spring quarter is well underway and we’d like to mention all the upcoming events at the Bishop Center for Performing Arts free to GHC students with their student ID card.

Saturday, May 23rd – 7:30 PM – Grays Harbor Opera Workshop: Highlights from Carmen

The singers of the Grays Harbor Opera workshop will be performing some of the most iconic scenes from Bizet’s Carmen, as well as favorite excerpts from Tales from Hoffman, The Mikado, and Candide.

Adults $15, Senior/Military/Area Students $12, Children 12 & Under/GHC Students FREE!

Saturday, May 30th – 7:30 PM – GHC Spring Drama: Our Place

An ordinary lakeside dock becomes the setting for five extraordinary stories. Both heart-wrenching and heart-warming, Our Place by Terry Gabbard is one-act play that features a wide range of characters portrayed by GHC students taking the course Introduction to Acting. Directed by Dr. Andrew Gaines. Show runs approximately 45 minutes and is appropriate for all audiences. The show is free admission, but tickets are required as there is very limited stage seating for this production.

Sunday, June 7th – 7:00 PM – GH Symphony & String Ensemble: Level Up!

Featuring iconic soundtracks from beloved video game franchises, the Grays Harbor Symphony & String Ensemble will be performing the crossover we didn’t know we needed by highlighting the evolution of video game music. In addition, the concert will feature the winner of the annual Grays Harbor Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition.

Wednesday, June 10th – 7:00 PM – GHC Music Department Honors Recital

This event highlighting students from the GHC Music Department is free for all to attend. You can expect performances from both our singers as musicians as they celebrate the end of the 2025-26 academic year.

General Admission FREE!

Sunday, June 14th – 2:00 PM – GH Civic Choir & Concert Band

Our community ensembles Grays Harbor Civic Choir and Concert Band, directed by Kari Hasbrouck and Tiffany Maki, are excited to present their spring concert highlighting both composers of color and colorful songs for their spring quarter concert.

Adults $15, Senior/Military/Area Students $12, Children 12 & Under/GHC Students FREE!

Thursday, June 18th – 1:00 PM – GHC Steel Drums

This event is held in the Wellington Rehearsal Hall – Music Pavillion on upper campus. It is a free event for all, with general admission (but limited) seating. The steel drums ensemble performs styles ranging from calypso to reggae, pop, rock, and seasonal favorites.

Thursday, June 18th – 7:00 PM – GHC Jazz Choir & Jazz Band

The quarterly performance from the GHC Music Department Jazz Band and Jazz Choir, directed by Dr. William Dyer and Kari Hasbrouck never disappoints, join us for their spring performance.

General Admission $5, GHC students FREE!

And coming this summer…

The SpongeBob MusicalOne weekend only, Thursday, July 16 through Sunday July 19 with shows at 7:30 PM, Thursday through Saturday evenings and matinees at 2:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets to this family-friendly musical are available now and we anticipate packed houses for this show, so get those tickets early!
