Course Description: 
The course will provide students a basic knowledge of geographical information systems (e.g., sources of GIS data, various data models, capturing GIS data and manipulating GIS data). Concepts in geography, spatial data, and their integration will be included. Lectures will convey an usderstanding of the fundamental principles of GIS. One of the objectives of the course is to provide students with hands-on experience with GIS/GPS hardware and software components. Lectures will also be supplemented with guest lectures in the application of GIS from individuals working in a diversity of application areas. 3 lecture hours; 4 lab hours. Vocational program course. May be used as a general elective in the AA degree.
Course Prerequisites: 
Prerequisites: Satisfactory completion of NR 101 and NR 260 with a 2.0 or better; or instructor permission.
