Course Description:
Walks students through the positive identification of invasive species and noxious weeds in Washington State. Students learn sources of invasive species, methods to control and visit sites where biological, mechanical, and chemical control as been used. Students learn the ecology behind biological invasions and assess invasive species control in the field. Students participate in mechanical control methods in various locations targeting various invasive species.
Course Prerequisites:
Prerequisites: Placement in ENGL& 101; and NATRS 172 or equivalent; and instructor's permission.
Course Outcomes:
Campus-Wide Learning Outcomes: will be assessed through activities, assignments, quizzes, exams and completion of an herbarium.
- Quantitative reasoning will be demonstrated in assignments and examinations.

- Critical thinking: students will demonstrate not only knowledge and comprehension of the course subject areas, but be able to analyze, apply, and synthesize the information presented by the instructor, other students, and assignments. Students will demonstrate critical thinking in the classroom and the field through assignment outcomes, identification, discussions, and a herbarium. Students will learn to develop solutions, use scientific process compare and contrast new data as a pathway to develop a conclusion.
