GHC offers GIS class in Raymond

Responding to needs of Pacific County employers, GHC will offer NR 110 Principles of GIS on Tuesdays during Winter Quarter. The class will meet from 1-5 pm at the Riverview Education Center in Raymond and is open to all area residents, current GHC students and those enrolled as Running Start students.

Taught by Alex Souza Bastos, Ph. D., students will earn 5 college credits as part of the College’s Natural Resources—Forestry Technician program, or as a course taken for career advancement. The course can also be used as a general elective towards an AA degree.

Students will learn basic knowledge and fundamental principles of geographical information systems (e.g., sources of GIS data, various data models, capturing and handling GIS data). Students will also have hands-on experience with GIS/GPS hardware and software components.
Seating is limited.
