Grays Harbor College to Host Career-Oriented Events this Spring

Spring quarter began on April 10th at Grays Harbor College. This quarter, as many students look forward to graduating, GHC is excited to host a number of opportunities to promote success outside of the classroom. Watch the online events calendar for opportunities to connect with employers, access career-building resources, get help with the job search process, and more.

Career Fair on April 20th

GHC will host a career fair on Thursday, April 20th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Schermer Building on GHC’s Aberdeen campus. The event is open to all students and community members who are looking for career opportunities or information about programs at GHC.

Employers including the City of Aberdeen, Coastal Community Action Program (CCAP), and Wunderland Childcare, among others, will be at the career fair on April 20th to speak about career opportunities and provide valuable insights into their respective industries.

Community Week May 1st to May 3rd

The Associated Students of Grays Harbor College (ASGHC) will host Community Week on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in GHC’s Schermer Building. Each day of Community Week will have a different focus:

  • May 1st - Education Day: Learn more about the resources and support available to GHC students during the first day of Community Week!
  • May 2nd - Career Day: Get help with job applications on Career Day! Local photographers Rick and Amy Moyer will be at Career Day from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to provide headshots to students at no cost. 4-H Digital Navigators will be at the event to assist students in creating LinkedIn profiles and navigating job search websites. Representatives from GHC’s TRIO department will also be available to help with resumes and cover letters.
  • May 3rd - Self Care Day: Local organizations and areas of GHC that are focused on mental health will be on campus to share information and resources.

Dress for Success Program Kickoff

Beginning April 20th, GHC students can access free, gently used, interview and workwear at no cost. Volunteers from the new “Dress for Success” program will be at the career fair on April 20th and community week on May 2nd to share info about the program and help students access the free clothing.

The Dress for Success program is a new partnership between GHC staff and volunteers from GHC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. The program aims to help students succeed beyond the classroom by providing access to clothing appropriate for a range of workplaces, including business settings and industrial technology fields.
