Tool Scholarships
The Grays Harbor College Foundation offers the Hughes Tools and James Davis Trust Tool Scholarship programs to eligible students.
Established in 2004 by Lawrence “Pat” Hughes and his wife, Mary Ellen, the Hughes Tool Scholarship helps GHC Industrial Technology and Nursing students purchase tools required for their particular field of vocational study. The Hughes believes students learning valuable job skills need to start with quality tools that can later be utilized when entering the workforce.
Eligibility Criteria
- 1st year students in automotive, carpentry, CDL, diesel, medical assisting, nursing or welding are eligible to apply. 2nd year students are eligible to apply if they did not receive a Hughes Tool Scholarship in their first year of study in any program.
- Students must receive a “C” or higher in the fall quarter and be enrolled in a full-time professional/technical core disciplinary course listed above for the winter quarter. With the exception that medical assisting and nursing must receive a “B-“ or higher in fall quarter.
- If a student enrolls in a program after the scholarship cycle has closed, the student may apply for the next scholarship cycle that will open in following academic year if they continue to meet the criteria listed above.
