Summary Job Description

Primary responsibility is working at the GHC school forest at Satsop Business Park with the manager (forestry instructor at GHC) to implement the forest management plan.

Please note that this position begins in the fall quarter. 

Typical Duties -

Duties include: timber cruising and other plant inventory, property boundary maintenance, timber harvest unit layout and administration, tree marking for removal, road maintenance, pre-commercial thinning, invasive weed identification and control, understory tree release, pruning, tree planting and reforestation work, tool maintenance and other duties as assigned.

Workday and times to be determined based on students & instructors quarterly schedule.

Employee Qualifications

Required skills - responsibility of action, adherence to safety procedures and use of equipment, good math skills, willingness to learn and work with public, ability to take initiative, working outdoors in inclement weather, working with power tools.

Preference is given to natural resource students working on their cooperative work experience requirements.

GHC van driving class will be required when offered.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrolled in 6 Credits or More
  • Must be Meeting Standard Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Federal/State Financial Aid processed and awarded in ctcLink
  • Have room in unmet Federal/Cost of Attendance Need money - $2500 Maximum per quarter
