Position Summary

The Culinary Lab Teaching Assistant supports culinary instructors by helping maintain an organized, safe, and efficient learning environment. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about culinary arts and education, eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen setting, and committed to student success.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist instructors in preparing and breaking down lab sessions, including setting up ingredients, equipment, tools, and recipe stations.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas following health department regulations and college standards.
• Support students during lab activities by reinforcing safe kitchen practices, answering procedural questions, and demonstrating basic culinary techniques when appropriate.
• Monitor inventory of ingredients, tools, and supplies; assist in restocking and organizing the pantry, refrigerators, and dry storage.
• Ensure proper storage and labeling of all food items.
• Help with dishwashing, waste management, and overall kitchen maintenance.
• Model professional behavior and encourage a respectful and collaborative learning environment.
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or student concerns to faculty.
• Perform other duties as assigned by instructors or the program coordinator.
