Admissions and Outreach Assistant

Overview

Grays Harbor College is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Admissions and Outreach team as a Work Study Assistant. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a student to gain valuable experience in higher education administration, admissions processes, and community outreach initiatives. The successful candidate will assist in various tasks related to student recruitment, admissions, and promoting the college's programs and services.

Responsibilities

  • Support Admissions Processes: Assist with the processing of admissions applications, including data entry, file management, and correspondence with prospective students.
  • Provide Frontline Support: Serve as a point of contact for prospective students and visitors, offering information about the college's programs, application procedures, and admission requirements.
  • Assist with Outreach Events: Collaborate with the Admissions and Outreach team to plan, coordinate, and execute recruitment events both on and off-campus, such as college fairs, high school visits, and community outreach programs.
  • Create Marketing Materials: Contribute to the development of promotional materials, including flyers, brochures, and social media content, to attract prospective students and engage with the community.
  • Conduct Campus Tours: Conduct guided tours of the campus for prospective students and their families, showcasing facilities, academic buildings, and student amenities.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records and databases related to prospective student inquiries, applications, and recruitment activities.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the Admissions and Outreach department, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and assisting with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment as a student at Grays Harbor College.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous customer service experience is preferred.
  • Interest in higher education and promoting access to educational opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English)

Schedule and Compensation

  • This is a part-time position, offering up to 19 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to accommodate the student's class schedule.
  • Hourly wage in accordance with Grays Harbor College's Work Study program guidelines.
