Lab Assistant

Summary: Assist in the microbiology, anatomy, biology, and chemistry labs

Typical Duties

Create media and reagents tor the Microbiology lab following specific instructions
Replenish Iab tables with needed equipment
Bring in and put away supplies
Preparation of nonhazardous solutions
Wash/clean lab ware
Help supervisor/instructor as needed
Set up and breakdown of Chemistry labs following specific instructions
Plant and animal maintenance
Handle preserved specimens

Employee Qualifications

Lab experience in Microbiology, Biology and/or Chemistry preferred OR enrollment in one of these classes
Knowledge or the ability to learn how to run an autoclave and weigh media.
Able to learn to make media and read recipe instructions
Able to accurately follow instructions and ask questions if need be
Able to work alone with minimal direct supervision
Able to understand and work within a schedule to match the needs of the lab teaching segments
Understands and follows all safety protocols.
